This window is displayed by clicking on the Sites option in the Transfers menu

It is used to define the separate sites running the software, and the range of unique numbers used for Stock items, manifests etc.

This table can be sorted by Site Number or Code by clicking on the [A/Z] button

1.      Click "+" to open dialog and add a new record (click "▲" to open an existing record to edit, and "-" to delete a record)

2.      The site number is the main key and is used to position the site code in the sites table in the export list. The master site should have site number 0.

3.      The code is a single letter and is also unique. This code appears in the sites field in the export list and is used as a prefix for the manifest (and other) numbers.

4.      The directory is a descriptive field for the site that is also used for the directory for import and export data at other sites and in the name of the zipped files sent with export data. This would normally have Up to 8 characters and no spaces.

5.      If the field is active then the box should be ticked. If a site is inactive, eg due to a suspension of a drilling activities, then the site should be made inactive. This will prevent records being exported to the site, which cannot be successfully imported. That situation will result in a build up of records in the export list. This can be cleared by using the [Clean up] option in the Export dialog.
Once a site becomes active again, it is usually best to start with a full copy of the master database, rather than try and update one that has been inactive for a prolonged period.

6.      The upper and lower values for the range for model numbers defined at the site are entered (as prefixes for 1000s) eg 60 means the first model number used would be 60,000.

7.      MSRs are likewise numerical and the prefix for the site is defined here. Manifests and MT numbers use the site code as a prefix.

8.      The office is a descriptive field that does allow spaces and is displayed on import and export forms rather than the shorter directory value.

9.      The email for the site can be entered and will be filled in when emails are send to that site from the Export dialog.

10.  The connection type defines how the data is managed.

1.      Direction connection to the server, either using a LAN or WAN or via citrix.

2.      Using the Apollo server over a network or the internet.

3.      The site maintains its own database and gets updates using the transfer options.

This table is located in the system directory for each site. It is recommended that a copy be made into the data directory whenever changes have been made. The files to copy are sites.dbf and sites.nsx. There have been occasions in the past where the sites table has been blanked, eg due to manual unzipping of an export file into the wrong directory.

The current site is selected from the Set site option on the file menu and the site name is displayed in the banner at the top of the IDW screen.
